Key questions for engagement time

How you handle engagement meetings sets the tone for the whole relationship.

Use these questions to set the scene for client satisfaction:

  • how do you want me to communicate with you ?
  • what result do you want ?
  • what progress reporting do you want ?
  • what is the impact of this situation on you ?
  • what role do you expect me to play ?
  • how involved would you like to remain in this matter ?
  • how will you evaluate our performance ?
  • if you ever feel things aren't going as they should, will you promise to alert me ?
  • what else can I do for you at this time ?

By asking some -  or all  - of these questions you'll:

  • gather a whole lot of invaluable information and insights
  • show the client that you really care about "getting it right"
  • positively differentiate yourself from the vast majority of professionals that s/he's likely to have encountered.
