How you handle engagement meetings sets the tone for the whole relationship.
Use these questions to set the scene for client satisfaction:
- how do you want me to communicate with you ?
- what result do you want ?
- what progress reporting do you want ?
- what is the impact of this situation on you ?
- what role do you expect me to play ?
- how involved would you like to remain in this matter ?
- how will you evaluate our performance ?
- if you ever feel things aren't going as they should, will you promise to alert me ?
- what else can I do for you at this time ?
By asking some - or all - of these questions you'll:
- gather a whole lot of invaluable information and insights
- show the client that you really care about "getting it right"
- positively differentiate yourself from the vast majority of professionals that s/he's likely to have encountered.
