Build your credibility

If you're a professional who takes pride in high credibility, check that its not being undermined by missing any of these items.

Communicate your credibility by:

  • giving evidence and clear examples of your competence  -  not just making claims
  • sharing your ideas, insights, knowledge and wisdom
  • communicating in clear, modern, non-technical, un-jargonised English
  • sharing the techniques, approaches and sources you use to stay at the leading edge of your specialist area
  • making it clear that you can  -  and do  -  maintain confidences
  • being across the technologies you need to use in your work
  • being authentic  -  not letting phoniness enter through insincere flattery
  • taking interest in your client and getting really close to them
  • being dependable and reliable
  • focusing on your client and their needs  -  and being prepared to put their interests ahead of yours.
