By taking control of our time, we can often achieve more than we previously though possible.
Here are some quick tips to help you take control of your business development time:
- list everything you need to do this week - assign priorities
- check what's important - not just what's urgent
- check your goals - and identify the steps towards your goals
- slice up big projects into a series of achievable pieces
- if you get disheartened pursuing one goal, switch to another of your identified goals
- don't fall into the trap of taking on lots of new projects and priorities when you're already overloaded on other valuable tasks
- extract the low return or pay-off activities from your list - leave these for when there's time
- don't fall into the trap of procrastination - tasks that just get transferred from one list to another, week after week, either shouldn't be on the list at all, or should be done now.
