If your employees enjoy coming to work each day, they will be more efficient, boosting productivity, and before you know it, office morale is on a high because the firm is making great profits !
If you notice low productivity, high staff turnover, lack of firm loyalty, and employees constantly not turning up for work, alarm bells should be ringing in your head !
If your office morale is leaving something to be desired, here are several things to consider:
- Reward employees for excellent work. Rewards need not be expensive or extravagant - a movie pass, gift voucher, or a small gift is enough to let your employee know how much you appreciate their efforts.
- A simple "thank you" or pat on the back for hard work is rare - but will boost the spirit of any employee.
- Staff social activities break-up the sometimes mundane day-to-day running of the office. Put in place a regular social event - team lunch on birthdays, or drinks one Friday afternoon a month - it will boost morale.
- Include your employees in the development and direction of the business. If employees feel they have contributed to building the firm, you will start to see a difference in the pride and morale they have around the office.
Not all offices need to boost employee morale. For those who don't, still try implementing on e of these suggestions and you will have happier employees (and hopefully a further increase in productivity!)
