Legal directory results: what next?

February 26, 2014 | Posted in: Win Tenders Bids Proposals | Tags: ,

Congratulations if your firm has been listed in one of the major legal directories (Chambers & Partners, APL500 or others).  You may be thinking, what next?

Don’t sit idly and let your time, efforts and results go to waste.  Take action with our top tips for making the most of your directory listing.

  • Consider increasing your pricing for certain categories of work, as recently pointed out by Richard Burcher.
  • Recycle your case studies and tailor them for use in tenders, proposals, capabilities documents, blog posts and on your website.
  • Use the ‘win’ as an excuse to get in touch  –  share the news with clients, referral sources, barristers and experts in an email or LinkedIn announcement.
  • Create or update your profile on the directory website, your own website and LinkedIn profile, and include options for visitors to interact and connect with the firm (this may also help boost SEO by increasing the number of backlinks to your firm’s website).
  • Utilise the directories’ promotional avenues:
    • order firm ranking brochures to use as marketing material
    • order a plaque to display prominently in the reception and client areas of your office.
  • Update your marketing and promotional materials with the good news:
    • create an announcement on your firm’s website and social media channels
    • add directory details to email signatures
    • mention the listing on advertising material, including careers listings
    • update profiles for listed lawyers with links to their directory rankings.
    • Run a small event with relevant clients (perhaps those that acted as referees) to thank them and celebrate the listing.

If you didn’t do as well as you had hoped, or would like further advice with leveraging the benefits of your listing, please get in touch with the JMA team.

And if you are not sure whether a directory listing is right for your firm, our next blog will outline some of the advantages to be gained if you do it right.

Tender readability – tips to improve your tender presentation and some tender presentation no-nos

Tender readability remains a problem for some in the 21st century. I still see submission documents that cling to a handful of really old hat tender presentation and formatting techniques. I suspect this is because some of these ‘rules’ are viewed as being more appropriate to a ‘formal’ style of document such as a tender. […]
